Our trip to PA: part 1

We were crazy, once again, and made the LONG drive out to PA.  We were excited for the trip: it had been a long time since we had seen all of Bill's family, and Bill's cousin Colbie was getting married.  But, maybe just because I'm pregnant, the drive felt even longer this time.

Really, it was a wonderful week.  We had lots of fun swimming, eating, dancing, eating and catching up with family..and eating some more.  It was sad to leave.  I can tell Gus is still thinking about PA...he keeps saying "dog" and looking for Bill's parent's puppy.

As usual, we took lots of pictures while traveling.  Here are a few shots from our first two days out there.

Bill's sister Amy was there to greet us when we finally got there on Thursday afternoon.  We quickly headed outside and Gus met his new favorite animal, Gabanna, the puppy.

Shortly after that we went to cool off in Bill's Aunt's pool.  When he got out of the pool, Gus showed off his cruising skills for Mimi and Pops.

An artistic shot Bill took that evening.

Friday was the rehearsal meal for the wedding and Gus met the funniest guy ever, Uncle Marcus!

Finally, Bill and all of his cousins were surprised to be presented with a hanky made from their grandmother's wedding dress.  I think this is such a nice picture of everyone.

Many more pictures to come!

Swimming with Dad

I think it is fitting that we are under a week away from father's day.  Gus has a really really great dad, and I'm glad I got some pictures celebrating that this weekend.  Don't these two look great together?

We had a weekend together as family, which was nice since, with me working so much, I feel like Bill and I haven't been seeing much of each other lately.  But, the ACT was on Saturday, so I have a break from working!  Yeah!

We are busy preparing for our trip to PA later this week, but this weekend we spent a lot of time at Graduation parties.  I had 3 cousins graduate this year.  Luckily they all live close-ish so we were able to get to the parties.  On the way to a party on Saturday evening, we stopping at my Aunt Joyce and Uncle Andy's house.  They had a beautiful pool and Bill and Gus took a dip.  Gus was perfectly happy in the water...until he saw some toys with wheels sitting on the deck.  He wanted to get out and play with those brmm brmms!  Here are a few pictures I snapped before he climbed out.

This might be one of my all-time favorite pictures.

Then, Gus climbed out and climbed onto the wheels!

Thank you Joyce and Andy!

To all you in PA--see you soon!

PS--Doesn't Gus have a terrific dad?

A good friend's ordination

We had a busy, wonderful weekend.  A good friend of ours was ordained into the priesthood.  We felt honored to be able to celebrate his ordination and his first mass with him.  And, Gus did pretty well throughout all of it.  He was a little squirmy, but for a 1 year old he did really well.

Most of our friends who were present to support Ben at the ordination.  Look at all the babies...and there are 4 more babies still in the womb in this picture too!

A family picture with the new priest.
Congratulations Ben!

PS--Pray for my brother please.  He had a strange episode of numbness and trouble speaking yesterday.  He was admitted (to St. Joe's) and after an MRI cleared of stroke or cancer regrowth.  However, we still don't have answers and are a bit on edge.  We are all headed back to Mayo today.  John was so confident that all this was behind him, but the events of yesterday have shaken him badly.

Memorial Day

We were happy to celebrate Jacob's second birthday on Monday.  It was a beautiful day, the bubbles were flying, the burgers were grilling, and there were lots of good friends to enjoy time with.  Gus had a good time too.  He thought Jacob was very interesting.  And, he had some fun toys!

After a nice Memorial day it has been back to the grind around here.  The weather is a little chilly, but hopefully it will be warming up soon.

The big party!

On Saturday we had what turned out to be a big 1st birthday party for Gus.  All sorts of people came: family, friends, neighbors...  We didn't get the camera out as much as I would have liked to.  I really would have like to have taken a picture of all the kids that showed up.  There was a herd of kids.  13 total, I believe.  Here are a few pictures that we did take.

Riding his new vroom vroom (Thanks Aunt Paula) with the help of cousin Dave.

The fancy birthday cake Bubba made.

He didn't get as messy as we thought he would!

Opening presents with some help!

Okay we have reached total melt down.  There are just a couple more pictures, but they will have to wait.
